7th grade Labs: Mobius Strip Lab. - (see pictures on the right) Students practiced making a hypothesis and then drawing conclusions once they performed their experiments. Some of the times they found they were right, but the Mobius Strip continued to surprise them the more they tested on it! 8th grade Labs: States of Matter Labs - In order to learn about the states of matter and phase changes, students explored Oobleck in the Crazy Colloid Lab, collected data and made graphs through different phase changes in the I'm Melting Lab, explored sublimation with the Dry Ice Lab, and explored the properties of gases in the Can Crusher Lab, Gas Law Labs, and Demos. | Ecology Labs - (see pictures to the left) In order to study how food chains and food webs work, students performed a Pond Water Food Web Lab. They also dissected a pellet in the Owl Pellet Lab. As a whole, students found voles and pocket gophers the most , but they also found some bird bones. |
Chemical and Physical Properties and Changes Labs: Students performed many labs to help them determine how to test properties of substances to identify unknown substances, analyze data to determine if a change was chemical or physical, and how to "back it up" with evidence.
