| The end of the year is here, which means my students are learning about body systems. For the Skeletal System, they learn the technical terms for 23 bones (out of 206) in their body. In order to help them we play Hudgeons Says which is a lot of fun. Students also perform various tasks and then write about all of the body systems they use in order to do the activity. We perform the Stroop test, watch Brain Games, and test our reflexes to explore the significance of our Nervous System. To take a closer look at our senses, students learn about the parts of the eye and how messages are sent to the brain to help interpret what we see. If that weren't exciting enough, they get to dissect a cow eye to see all of the parts. Next they will create a Paper Doll which contains 3 organ systems and for the finale, they dissect a frog! This helps them to investigate the location of the main organs for each body system. What a great way to end the year!!! |
